Different Kinds of Annoying

When Vera saw the request description she had thought, easy peasy! This will be a piece of cake. Now she was seriously reconsidering. 'A young wizard who isn't afraid of getting dirty' was not needed. What was needed was 'A young wizard who is insanely good at tolerating old and crabby woman who are better off dead than alive since they piss everyone off at every second of the day'. Ms Walters had been exceptionally vague in the details upon being asked. She ducked the questions and simply said 'I need you to babysit someone'. Verity being the person who didn't ask too many questions when not in the mood had simply accepted the fact that she needed to take care of some old woman until the caretaker came back.

At the present moment she was sitting in front of Mrs. Crone trying to figure out what the hell she could do to shut up the woman. "Why is that chair dusty? It is ruining my eyesight. I can't tolerate dust. It get's everywhere. You're as useless as the other woman. She can't do anything. She says she's taking care of me but what does she do? She has the gall to run off! Leave me with some-" The old woman gave a look of utter disdain "-teenager who smells like they've been rolling in mud. And mud! Mud is terrible. It smells like old farts and bad breath. It gets..." and she continued to speak with Verity staring at her.

She needed a plan to get rid of this woman for good without actually getting rid of her.

There was many ways one could shut up a person. They could cut up their tongue, they could tie their mouth up, they could go for a mouth-to-mouth resuscitation. Either way, the person ended up mute. For the very pleasant and exceptionally kind Mrs Crone, she was thinking mutilation and mouth-to-mouth resus wouldn't work to well in her favour. Mutilation would mean she failed her job and mouth-to-mouth...hmmmmmmmmmmmm. Let's just say she wasn't keen on the idea. And she'd have to be doing it all the time which would lead to her not being able to do other aspects of the job. However...tying up her mouth did seem like a pretty good option.

She gave an analytic glance towards the old lady babbling on about her next complaint. That'd work. She had supplies. The girl summoned a few rolls of duct tape and immediately got to it. The old lady didn't even see it coming. Now she was tied to her chair with a bunch of secure ropes along with the privileged benefit of having a shut mouth. By her expression she wasn't happy. Too bad. It was one or the other and Verity preferred herself.

Now it was time to get onto the more, pleasurable side of things. First up, she'd sweep the house. Whether or not Ms Walters was actually useless, she didn't know. However, she certainly hadn't been doing a very good job of keeping the house clean.

Mrs Crone probably wanted to condemn Verity to death by burning. Or death by drowning in a bucket of water. The only time she was ever released from the ties that bound her was when she needed to eat. Vera was a considerably decent cook judging that she had needed to fend for herself a while yet. However, she highly doubted the old lady would appreciate the way she fed people. In order to spare her ears the girl had simply scooped a punch of food and shoved it down the lady's throat. Luckily for the old woman she had chose to make soup. This kept her alive instead of needing to choke. After the terrible task was done, she redid her gags and went on with normal business. She cleaned the bowl, she cleaned the spoon. She dipped it in hot foamy water and dried it up. She even had the decency to store it back away again. Because it'd be strange to leave the pot on the stove, she also took it off and repeated the same process. And then she worked on the rest of the kitchen and every order utensil and bit of crockery that was left lying around.

Soon the kitchen was sparkling clean and she went on to fix up the living room. She dusted pillows, cupboards and also conveniently ignored Mrs Crone. After that was done she visited the bathroom and cleaned that to. Every other room she'd also ignore.

Much to Vera's relief, she heard the knocking of Ms Abbey Walters. She was about to open it with a cheerful face when she realised...prehistoric Mrs Crone was still tied up. From then on it was a frantic dash to beat the young woman to the living room. In one short burst she stored away all of her binds...and then Ms Walters appeared. She had a curious expression on her face. It wasn't that she was wondering why there were ties around Mrs Crone - she would be horrified if so - instead she was just curious as to why Verity was close to Mrs Crone. Getting paid couldn't happen quick enough. The old lady started to croak in anger/complaint but before she could go full throttle, the blonde had exited the house. So much for an easy job.
