Reliving the past, to shape the future. [Charlotte/Nines]
Nines was looking at his old friend Von Argon, Lord King of Fiore, and High Commander of the Magic Council. He was surprised they would tell him where they hid the Commander after the rebellion in Era. He had history with the man, a sort of kinship between him and the old man existed at one point. He wondered if it was his fault that their friendship had gotten this bad, that he could no longer find out now was even more heartbreaking to the Ghost of the Council. He had finally found out where the nickname came from. Von Argon had apparently said something along the lines of “I thought I saw a ghost just now” to Mathius one day when Nines had been doing things around Era. Nines had meant to see him, to say hello, whats up, something, anything to rekindle their old friendship to his old friend. But they were both busy, so busy. Those things didn't seem as important now. Nines saw the betrayal coming, but it came from something he didn't expect. It wasn’t the Talison girl he suspected, but instead, Mordekai Von Argon who was the traitor. The man's own son.
It wasn’t all bad though, not all their flesh and blood had turned. Nines smiled as he looked at his friend. That blank empty stare straight at the ceiling was chilling. He hated what the shock had done to Commander Von Argon. To someone he once considered a brother in arms. However he remembered those eyes on someone else, a young girl who was on his side. He wouldn't cry for Von Argon. He would avenge him.
Ironically however the more he thought about the past, and he looked at his old friend. The more he was finding himself more and more drawn to the memory of his recent return. When Era had been repaired to what it was now. The fortress before the fall. The calm before the storm. His chest heaved with a sigh. reliving memories were important, it gave you a second chance to see something you missed. He closed his eyes and thought about it harder. Maybe there was a clue back there….
He was waiting for a very, very old comrade of his. It had been a very long time since he last saw her. A very long time. He was sitting in the new training grounds of the magic council, having recently graduated for the second time. He had only just found out about her being a superior officer to him.Which he found odd. Hell this was the first time he found out she joined the council, and she held a higher position than he did.
It didn't help she was much much younger. It also didn't help that an old friend of his was now basically the king. That was also weird. He wondered if she remembered him. There was almost no way she remembered him. It had been nine years, her father had moved to a position of importance. Nines had been meaning to see the man in the last week, but couldn't bring himself to do it. If Von Argon was too busy and Nines bothered him...Nines would never forgive himself. Besides Matthew Evercross was dead, he was officially Nikolas Krossley now. Probably one of the more undercover moves of his in his chess game to figure out what was wrong with the council.
If she did remember him from her youth would she call him out on it? If she did he would just deny it. There was no need to remind them of what happened before the war. Not after what he found out about her mother, it was unfortunate that he had to learn of her death so long after, and be unable to provide some sort of remembrance for her with Von Argon for his sign of friendship. However sacrifices needed to be made if he was going to stop this dark guild he was hunting.
He sat there and waited for Charlotte Von Argon’s arrival. Who he remembered as a tiny little ten year old, who would kick your ass if you pissed her off. That brought a smile to his face.

Re: Reliving the past, to shape the future. [Charlotte/Nines]
Memories… They are wonderful, aren’t they? The sweet happiness, the sour realities and the bitter taste of loss…the ups, the downs, the circle of confusion…and the feeling of being full. That’s what memories give. It makes us realize that we have lived for this long and had gotten through way too many tight spots out of luck or skill. For Charlotte Von Argon, her memories are what had driven her all this time...Even now. Memories of the proud warrior she knew as her father, memories of a beautiful woman that taught her kindness and memories of a strong brother who had never let a man come close to her. Those memories made Charlotte want to be what she is. Those memories guided through many dark places. So when did all of them turn into nightmares for her? The proud father she knew once laid still on a bed inside a tent staring at nothing but thin air, her beautiful mother was dead, leaving her and her father, weakening them and her overprotective brother? Where is he now? Where is he after almost killing their father? Where is he who vowed to protect her for eternity? Everything that pushed her forward is gone, broken, and shattered just like her soul.
Charlotte didn’t believe what was happening till she came across the sight of her father lying almost lifeless on the destroyed ground of the once grand headquarters of the council from the blow that no one but her own brother dealt. Charlotte had fallen to the floor by then as she stared at the glowing eyes of her brother, everything round her was already crumbling down just like the fort of dreams she built around her. By the time someone had pulled her up and took her with them to escape, Charlotte was empty inside and every time she looked at her father who couldn’t even look at her, she was reminded of the incident again and again.
That was two days ago
Dry leaves got crushed under her feet as Charlotte made her way towards the tent where they kept Argon. Her steps were slow and elegant but had a deadly rhythm to it and the eyes of everyone’s attention she drew widened in surprise, shock and question at what or rather whom they saw. From the present, like the pendulum of a clock, Charlotte’s mind swung back to the past. The clock winded back and her steps towards the tent transformed to slow and soft steps towards the council training grounds.
Who can I trust?
It had been a few days after she learned of the newest addition to the council seekers. The man’s photo she held during the time she went through the data reminded her of someone…someone she would have forgotten if she didn’t have photographic memory and the ability to put two and two together. She couldn’t believe that it had been nine years. He was so much younger then…younger and energetic. She clearly remembered the man her father had invited home so many times and the same man who had told her funny stories of her father.
That man left for something important is all that she remembers about him. In fact, his back as he turned to leave with a smile while Charlotte hid behind her father’s legs was her last memory of him. So when she had finally realized who the man is after staring at the photo for more than half an hour, Charlotte had finally sped off from her desk to ask around for him. When a kind old guard told her of her destination, Charlotte had only thrown a small smile at him before running off again.
Her black hair swayed with every step she took and once her feet took her where she wanted to be, the amber eyed girl’s eyes zeroed in on to the tall man in front of her. The cold breeze that swept the dust off the training ground didn’t faze her as she stared at him with her hands tied behind her back. “Congratulations…So you did it again, Matt. You sure are old now…” She smiled, knowing he would deny it but it didn’t matter for she already knew he existed and she already knew that he would become one of her strengths.

Re: Reliving the past, to shape the future. [Charlotte/Nines]
”HAH Old” He grinned at that. “I’m about as old as your father was when I left you guys that day, to go hunt my brother.” He continued to stare at his boots. “You know what matters though right? When you're young at heart your physical age isn't really that important. It’s the mentality you approach life that’s important Char. Unfortunately for me and you that makes me like fifteen. Thus i'm younger than you would be now, and kind of immature about it” He looked up at her, a grin plastered on his face. “Boy oh boy how you’ve grown beautiful” He said standing up, they were the same height now, he found that funny. “Can’t say tall, I mean you didn't get much taller” He laughed. “I bet your father is proud however, I know I am...and i'm not even related” as he said this he crossed his arms and nodded, his auburn hair blowing around with the motion as well as the wind.
“You look more like your father than I thought you would” He commented. “Definitely got your mother's charm though. Soph was a good friend, I'm sorry.” He bowed his head to her. “I regret not being there, to help your family” He continued. “I regret not being here, to help the country. I regret not being in the war...to help the people…” His voice stopped after that. His left hand was clenched the gauntlets metal grinding against itself.
“Its unfortunate however, I’m pretty much over it.” With that his grip relaxed, and he wore his easy smile again. “I graduated twice, and you’re still a higher rank than me” He said as he closed his eyes and put his hands in his pockets. “So I assume you know about the whole..Identity crisis of mine huh? What with Calling me Matt and all?” He asked carefree. “I guess that means I can’t hide anything from your dad after all, can I?”
He opened his eyes and saw the old mans gaze, the dead stare. That was right, he couldn't hide anything from Cornelius Von Argon, high lord of the council. Nines wasn’t much of a liar to begin with, he didn't like secrets. Von Argon hated them as well, something had to have happened that changed the way Von Argon behaved in court. Nines had read the records, he always acted strange during them, afterwards returning to his normal behavior. He made choices that the old man wouldnt normally, like the law against the Guildless. The law at first seemed logical, an idea of a guild draft. Built support for the light guilds so the dark stop gaining power.
However it was the little things that caused it to backfire completely. There was no reason given to the public, it wasn't well thought out. People were thrown in prison rather than charged an extra tax, or other such minimal punishment. Nines had memorized the reports of every Councilman who attacked a citizen because they were a guildless mage.
He had started to see a pattern, but it was too late. All those who attacked during the law’s enforcement were now crusaders. The power was obviously too much for them.
I can only trust those three Nines thought as a smile crossed his face.

Re: Reliving the past, to shape the future. [Charlotte/Nines]
Charlotte grinned knowing that he would definitely come up with something like that to negate her statement and of course age is only for the appearance. “Tell me about it, if we calculate our mental ages, if it makes you fifteen, it makes me like thirty five…?” she pouted, looking at him from the corner of her eyes as she turned to the left. “How unfortunate indeed…You can’t really blame me for being a superior to you now, can you?,” she teased as she turned so that she was standing right in front of him facing him. “To think I thought you would be taller by now, “Charlotte mused, brushing off the comment about her being not as tall as someone her age should be. She was well aware of her height difference with some other girls of her age she had met. It didn’t bother her as much as it should have except for the times Kai had teased her saying things like men would never go for a short spitfire like her. She would obviously come back with a ‘who cares’ attitude though it does make her quite furious to hear those words from her brother who hangs out with girls her age all the time. It always made her think that other men thought the same. That was just her romantic problems of course which she didn’t give much thought to other than the times she sees someone with a girlfriend or boyfriend.
When he brought up the topic about her mother, Charlotte smiled sadly at him. It wasn’t his fault that something like that happened anyway. “Don’t…it’s not your fault…in fact, it wasn’t anyone’s fault…though I think my father started changing a little after that incident…” the last part flowed off as if she talked to herself rather than Matt. “Ah yes…I figured you are Matt when I saw your picture on the application…took me a little while to figure out it is you though….” She admitted with a small smile yet again. “Lots of things happened after you left….” She trailed off with a sigh, looking up. “How did things go with your brother?” she asked, looking back down.
Brother…..
The word Charlotte adored for as long as she could remember. Brother who shared anything and everything with her, brother who got hurt for her, brother who protected her, brother who understood her, brother who stood beside her when she desperately looked for a piece of advice.
The sound of Charlotte’s strong footsteps rose inside the tent as sunlight filled the place for a moment before pale darkness took over again, giving the others a chance to finally see Charlotte as she is now. She ignored the loud gasps, surprised looks and shocked faces of many loyalists as she made her way towards her father who despite everything was still staring blankly up at the ceiling. Her expression softened for the first time that day as her eyes moved from her father to the very next man she trusted the most inside that place... Matt or rather Nikolas Krossley.
The once long and shimmering raven hair was now short and silver, barely reaching her shoulder. Though her amber eyes were still the same, anyone could easily realize the drop of light in her eyes. They were now far, distant and cold. The happy and childish look of Charlotte had been lost somewhere in the events that took place. In the place of a very irresponsible looking girl now stood someone who gave off the aura and appearance that said ‘I’m way above your league’. It was not overconfidence but it was her real strength that shone through her eyes…wisdom far beyond her age was there….the carefully built walls that Charlotte had polished for almost all of her life had been destroyed by her own choice. The real Charlotte stood in front of many stunned people.

Re: Reliving the past, to shape the future. [Charlotte/Nines]
Nines eyes flicked from his old friend, to the older gentleman's daughter. He lowered the old mans hand and let go of it before standing up in the presence of his princess, if this continent was still a kingdom, she would technically by all rights be queen. That wasn’t the case however, this continent was a wreck at the moment. The moment the Crusaders made their move and cut the Magic Council in half, he received reports from contacts around the country. Shadow Heart made their first big move, after destroying the fairy tail guild hall, and killing maybe half the guild, the publicly announced their existence and from then on have made no demands.
This country was no longer on the brink of war. This country was at war with itself. It needed a figurehead to base the look of good upon. She had changed her appearance to that of an adult. He stared at this and surprisingly was unimpressed. These last few days had really made him realize that people needed a leader to look up, to really embody the concept of peace and benevolence. Originally that man was Von Argon, but now he lay here like this, like a wreck. The clothes Nines wore, were made for a butler, a service man. It was the only well made suit he had. The green tie drew out his eyes, the black of the tailcoat drew the contrast against the white collared shirt. His left arm, was bandaged with black bandages, the seals that normally dotted his white gauntlet, coated into the very fabric with dark red stitches. The only things not covered by the bandage were the upper half of his fingers, leaving his nails and flesh bare. The black tattoo of his brothers cursed lineage fully visible on them in patterns that crossed them like hellfire.
“I hope you're as grown up as you appear. The people need someone to believe in, and that person can’t be a ghost like I am.” Nines stated to her directly. “In light of that however, I belive it looks good on you.”
he raised his left hand to scratch the back of his head, the only tick he had when he was nervous.
Nines looked down “He’s dead, as to be expected. Apparently he ran a dark guild, and was doing untold things using the souls of those he slayed in combat. Like demon summoning.” His left side was covered in bandages, black ones, that went all the way up to his neck, and down his arm, to the very tip of his hand. From the last knuckle to his nails were the only things that could be seen from under the bandage, tiny red markings could be seen all along the bandage, and their pale flesh and crimson hues gave intense contrast to the black cloth that wrapped around him. However dotting his flesh were black marks, like fire, as if tattooed. “Alot happened after I left for me as well.” He clenched his left hand a few times, as if it was injured. “I requested specific armor unbefit of my position, made from my old armor, was that approved? It’s slightly important” He asked with a chuckle. “Involving that demon thing I just mentioned” He smiled up at her.

Re: Reliving the past, to shape the future. [Charlotte/Nines]
Charlotte’s expression softened as she realized that the council and everything around were not the only ones that took a beating. He was going through his own troubles and here she was telling him things as if her troubles were bigger. She sounded like a kid…maybe she still was one no matter how much she tried to grow up since the war. “I see…I don’t know what happened with the demon…but I’m glad you are back in the council. Also, about the armor, heh I am not in position to approve it. You have to speak with my brother,” She said, tying her hands together behind her. “I might be in a better position than you, but I’m still an irresponsible brat in my father’s eyes,” she continued, pushing a strand of raven hair back behind her ear. “It’s good to have you back in the council indeed.”
As soon as the words left Matthew, Charlotte began to tremble…the white strapless dress that reached past her thighs flying in the breeze that snuck into the tent from a small opening. “No…No…I’m not yet ready, Ma-“she shook her head as she almost spilled his real name out. “Nines,” she corrected, going over to her father and kneeling in front of him. “I may have gained something…the looks of an adult…but I feel like I have lost way too many things to have my appearance alone to make up for it,” she continued, gripping her dress tight as she sat in front of the man she had looked up to like forever in her life, desperately trying to hold off the tears that were threatening to spill. “I know…I know I shouldn’t be like this…I know I should stand up straight and even think straight but I don’t have those two iron pillars I knew I could rely on if I made a wrong choice…I’m a child after all, Nines…I’m a child who needs to grow up still…” she looked back at Nines with a small smile. In place of a Charlotte that should have looked like an adult was a lost and confused girl who didn’t know who to turn to. She wanted to pull herself up but she didn’t know how.
Taking the rather cold hands of her father in her hands, she leaned forward resting her forehead on his knuckles. “I need to find the Argon before the great war…I need to transfer to that time and become that Argon for the people now….I need to become the Argon who wouldn’t change and make the same mistakes….I need to find the man I truly wanted to become once upon a time…” she stuttered out, her voice breaking a few times. “I might have the ability to become him…but I don’t…I don’t have the strength of my heart to do that yet…” she whispered. Out of everything that happened, it was her brother’s betrayal that tore Charlotte apart. She watched her brother trying to kill her father with her own eyes…her brother whom she trusted with everything.

Re: Reliving the past, to shape the future. [Charlotte/Nines]
Nines smiled back at the young woman kneeling before her father in front of him. She would make a great leader if she recognized her faults as easily as that. His smile was kind, and reassuring, a faithful smile. His eyes were filled with tiny glimmers of hope. He could save this country from itself, it was his job. However he would need someone to lead the people to their side. He knew she would be the best choice he could make, she was taught personally how to lead by Von Argon. Even if she didn't consciously realize it. The man always led by example, it was how he taught as well. He knew she looked up to her father, seeing him like this was a major cause of her breaking, not to mention who broke him.
Nines offered his hand to her, the palm up and the hand offering her a way up. “Everyone has two fine iron supports to hold themselves up dear. They’re called your legs. You use them everyday. Starting from birth, learning how to follow your fathers footsteps, a vast improvement from crawling on your own. Leading into your younger years, where you walk your fathers path, wanting to be him, his shoes still too big to fill. To becoming a young woman, still immature and wanting to fill his shoes, and laying in his huge shadow that seemingly blocks out the sun.” Nines smiled again, reaching into his pocket with his right hand. It was a gift from your mother after she married your father. He pulled out a small locket and dangled the chain so it would land in his outstretched hand, then thumbed it open quickly.
Inside was a picture of her mother Sophia Von Argon. “I think it’s my turn to tell you the story of how I met your father” He continued, looking at the locket. Inside was a black and white Lacimra filled with a picture of a young man, grinning from ear to ear, being hugged by a girl larger than him with just as big of a grin. On the other side of that picture Lacrima, there was another filled with an older man, who was unmistakably her father. His arm was wrapped around another man, unmistakably the same man in the other picture, his hair had grown out, and there was color. His eyes were a beautiful green, and filled with joy, like his un-missable grin. They both were wearing nice clothes.
“Family is an important thing, especially an older sibling...like Kai” Nines said with a smile, staring at the first picture, he didn't try to stop the tears, he learned long ago that it was okay to cry. It was when you couldn't cry that you were supposed to worry.
”Then I’ll ask your brother than. I wonder if he still doesn't like me” Nines chuckled. “Man he must be really important now if he got his hands on both my full files regarding my files, and the request for my armor” Nines muttered. “Your mother would be proud of you two…”
“I believe you’ll recall The official records of my history say my brother killed my sister, Morgan Evercross” Nines stated. “Necessarily that was true. Mattaesyn kind of killed the Evercross family that day, its why I left that name behind when I found out about your mother.” He grinned as he looked back up at her. “The truth was, she healed herself after the blow that should have killed her landed. She was a magnificent healer. In the fight between me and Mattaesyn at our families house, my blade broke under the stress of the fight against him. The sword tip lodged itself in my throat, and he believed his job was done.” Nines reached up and touched his neck with his right hand dropping the locket in his left, he wouldn't forget that feeling. His skin however did, it was unmarked, perfectly flawless.
“Ordinarily he would’ve been correct, I would have died from that wound, if my sister didn't pull the shard out and heal the wound. Thats why I bear no scar from that fight with my brother.” Nines knelt down beside Charlotte, and picked up her hand and put it in it. “She was a wonderful person, your mother. Even if she was recorded dead.” He grinned at that. “She saved Fiore before you were conceived, even before the great war.” He put his hand on hers over the locket. “When we went to town there were a group of, well thugs to put it plainly. They were beating on a fire mage, who had tried to defend an old man from them. His magic was weak, she always said it was because he didn’t believe in himself. She scolded the thugs hard, I don't know how she always did it, but she made them run off, crying believe it or not. A young woman no older than yourself now, and not much younger. Talked off a bunch of cold blooded murders” Nines chuckled, his tears still flowing, but he wasn’t actively crying tears just flowed from his eyes, in slow streams.
“She healed the man's injuries, and helped him back up on his own two legs. He thanked her profusely, he was always pretty polite to me and Sophie back then. I don't think he changed really, over all. He introduced himself as Cornelius, we called him Nelly when we were younger. Ah man I was pretty sure he hated that name.” Nines continued talking as he stared up at the ceiling. “He was a good guy, but as heroic as he was he couldn’t back up the talk he made. your mother changed that, she talked both of us into joining the council, under the guise of ‘To help fund our lives’ for me, and for him to ‘find something to believe in’. He graduated to Junior Paladin before I did. I didn't see him often after that, however I did figure out from her that they were taken with each other. I was conflicted really, It wasn’t until they decided to hold a tournament within the council itself, it used to be a big thing really. The Recruits would fight the juniors, to learn from them. The Juniors were apprenticed to Senior Paladins or Seekers, they didn't need the training but they needed the experience.”
”Do they still do the Tournaments? The ones to teach the recruits? Or have we gone full military training?” Nines asked her as he looked up. “From my experience it seems fully like a military training regime. Not a learning experience for the youth to grow in their own way...but forced” He sighed. “Ironically I miss the way old things were done, so much more room for personal growth when you get your own experience against a stronger opponent, should talk to your father about that” Nines felt miserable about not talking to the man. After all they had been through. All the stuff he missed, all that happened. He could never face Von Argon again. It was why he changed his name. Matt was dead, just like her, just like their brother, their mother and their father.
“I was angry, upset at your father. I felt he wasn’t strong enough to protect my sister. Understandably I was dead set wrong. Like always she was right, he was weak because he didn't believe in himself, however after graduating and finding a proper mentor, he no longer faltered. I watched him become the Von Argon that led Fiore through the great war. The Von Argon that saved everyone during the fall of the council. His magic was much stronger, like nothing I had ever seen. I doubted it until I was called to fight him. He melted my junior holder equipment. All without harming me, not even a senior blacksmith could do that. It was a sight to behold.” Nines sighed. “Soon after the two got married. I had given my consent after the tournament, which was when the Council Recognized me as a Junior Seeker. I always wanted to be like my sister, she got her looks from her mother. I got mine from our father.”
Nines looked back down to Von Argon. His oldest living friend. A man he respected, and loved. However he wasn’t a man who he looked up too. Not like Charlotte, who admired her father, and wanted to emulate him. She wanted to fill his shoes, to be like him, to lead like him. “Charlotte, your father is great man. I admire your choice to want to fill his shoes, however I believe you shouldn't. Your not your father, you never could be. You have his traits, but you also have your mothers. You’re not her either though, you’re Charlotte Von Argon. Daughter of Lady Sophia Von Argon, and Lord Cornelius Von Argon. High Commander of the Magic Council, hero of the great war, and reigning king of Fiore. His shoes are impossible to fill, no one can be another Nelly Von Argon. We need someone better than him, someone better than his wife. We need their daughter to lead us through this.” Nines looked back at Charlotte. His smile matching the one in the locket in her hands. “You may not be able to fill their shoes, but you can definitely make them proud of you for leading Fiore through this. I believe you're better than they are Charlotte. Fiore needs you to lead us through this rough time. I need you to lead Fiore through this rough time.” Nines stood back up and put his left hand on her head, and ruffled her hair like he used too when she was younger.
“You’ve grown up to be a fine woman. You’re intelligent, charming, and have a good head on your shoulders. Never be afraid to cry for them, never be afraid to make mistakes.” he removed his hand from her head and turned away from her. “Always worry when you do neither of those things…” He put his hands in his pocket as he walked towards the exit of the tent.
”How do you do it big sis? How do you make everyone around you believe?” he asked her, long ago. “How do you always keep smiling no matter what happens?”
“Because Matty, life needs to be enjoyed to its fullest. If you don't do that, its sad and depressing. I smile so other people can smile. When someone else see’s someone during hard times who is honestly enjoying their life as best they can, they feel like they need to try as well.” Her hand touched his head and ruffled his hair. “Always remember lil bro, the world is what you make of it. Its only small if you keep it small, its as big as you want it to be, and as bright as you want it to be.” She patted it once, him looking up at her smile. “All you have to do is expand your horizons, get out there and smile, and you can make the world a better place.” Her face was fading from his memory at this point, it was the only face he couldn’t remember. That and his parents, his brothers would haunt him forever.
”Here little bro” She said grinning from ear to ear and leaning forward. Something about her looked mischievous. “Come on, gimme your hand silly” She pestered him.
“I don't know Sophie, you're being weirder than normal. Shouldnt you be with your daughters?” he asked her raising an eyebrow. “and why didn't you bring them with you if you were coming to visit?”
“Because this is important, and Nelly has a break so I came to say hello to my little bro. Ever since you became a fully fledged seeker we don't talk much anymore, you're always chasing down him.” She said him with spite, but still smiled. Her eyes never revealed how she felt about him, her smile never diminished. How she did it he would never know.
“Okay fine” He said extending his hand and opening his left palm. there was a soft thump and a feeling of cold in it, like metal. “Whats this…?” He asked.
“Tadaaaa, its a picture Lacrima locket~” She said happily, “open it open it open it.” she leaned over his hand saying that over and over again. He sighed, she was obviously excited about this, more excited than he was. His thumb tapped the button on the top of the locket, the two sides flipping open. Inside were two pictures, ones he didn't know she even had. One was from when they were young, when they moved into the city of Era. The other was after her wedding, it had Nelly in it as well. It drew a smile to his face. “How did you take these?” he asked her.
“Aha, I cant reveal my secrets yet can I?” She said with a grin. She was always like that, cooking, cleaning, doing little things. He admired that, even now when she had children, she still did little things like this for him to keep him happy. Even during his hunt for their brother. It hurt really. That he had to tell her he tracked him down and he had to leave to go get him.
“L-listen sis, I-” tears welled in his eyes as he realized he was going to have to say goodbye to his sister. Likely a final time as he headed to go for his murderous brother. “You dont have to tell me Matty, you found him didn't you?” She cut him off before he finished. Still the same Sophie, he smiled at that, she always could read him like a book. “Its okay, I understand. Go get him, for mom and dad okay” She smiled as she patted him on the shoulder. “I’m sure you’ll make them proud, just come back home so I can be proud too” She smiled and kissed him on the forehead. Then she left him, alone.
Nines tears didn't stop as he opened the tent. He looked back at Charlotte, a smile still planted on his face, just as honest and sincere as all those before it. “keep the locket Little one, I have plenty of memories of her, you need it at this point more than I do.” The moonlight reflected the liquid on his cheeks as he smiled at her. Then he turned and left the camp.
He never did get to see her again after that day. He came back to find Fiore in ruins, his house abandoned, his city gone and his people hating him. He came back to find his sister buried, her husband a king, and their children pressured with burdens they shouldn’t have had. He was a horrible uncle, but he honored his sisters memory, he always kept smiling. If she couldn't make the world brighter, he would do it for her.
He walked in front of the graves of those who died during the war. Until he found the one he was looking for. Years later, he was wounded. He couldn't protect her. Her husband couldn’t protect her. Life was cruel. He hated it, he hated everything as he walked through those rows of dead. The tombstones marking their names, and their dates. He was a loner in this world, archaic, and alone. Inside he was already dead, he had already given up hope on life. It had taken away everything he cared about.
When he saw hers he fell to his knees and cried like a baby. Ever since then he felt different about life. He tried to love it like he knew she did. However that changed nothing about himself, he was a ghost, living the life of someone else, mimicking that of a great person. To be like them. He did it to give himself the strength to live every day without her. She was the brightest thing in this world too him, and forever would be. He smiled for her.

-Nines exits-
Nines offered his hand to her, the palm up and the hand offering her a way up.

Re: Reliving the past, to shape the future. [Charlotte/Nines]
When Matthew exited the tent leaving her with the small locket with pictures of him and her parents inside, Charlotte was still on the ground right beside her father frozen in a stance where she was looking up at someone. Honestly, the only evidence of the fact that she was still alive and breathing was the tears that ran down her cheeks that made a pool at the ground which it sucked up in less than a few minutes. There are no wounds that cannot be healed, she remembered her own brother saying that to her a few years back when she got mildly frustrated at something.
Thinking back at everything that her friend or rather uncle told her, the once confused girl fell back, her back hitting the side of the bed her father rested on as her head fell, her amber pools finding her lap the most important thing in the world. He was right…there is no way she can fill out her father’s shoes but she can become as good as he is in her own way, couldn’t she? Her mother…she realized she didn’t have many memories of her but in every memory she could recollect, her mother was always smiling and everyone else smiled along with her. Like a sun, she attracted so many people towards her bright self…even her father who probably would have ended up as nothing without her. She laid the foundations to what Cornelius Von Argon is today. It made her smile, the thoughts of young Argon being scolded by a woman as young as he is.
Charlotte, grow up to be an amazing girl okay? You don’t have to become anyone else…you should just be yourself….live your life the way you want, smile and even cry when you want to do so. Please…never keep your feelings bottled up…always…always live as yourself…learn from everyone but never become someone else. Your father and mother are proud of you, my baby girl. So don’t ever think that you cannot lose and become a failure. It is okay to fail, my dear…it is okay to fall as long as you rise back up…
“I am Charlotte Von Argon...Daughter of Cornelius Von Argon, The High Commander of Magic Council, hero of the great war and reigning king of Fiore and Sophia Von Argon, the woman that made everything possible,” she repeated as if in a trance, still smiling as she pictured what could be her parent’s favorite memories. It must have been really warm and happy, she thought looking back at her father.
She sat up…eyes widened, in a hurry as she saw something the now silver haired girl didn’t think she would ever see. Her father was still looking up at the ceiling but what got her attention were the warm tears that fell down to the pillows, glowing under the pale moonlight that seeped in through the opening in the tent. “Dad…” she took his hand in hers again, placing her cheek on top of them as she looked up at the only man that she wanted to surpass, she said…
”Dad…I’m sorry I look like such a brat now…but one day…one day…I’m not really sure when…I’m going to shine brighter than you and mom…I’ll definitely become someone who would beat you…I’ll not become Cornelius Von Argon second or the third…I’ll become Charlotte Von Argon…I’ll become a me that you cannot outshine...So stay beside me…stay beside me and watch…please,” her voice as determined a she wanted it to sound, broke at the end as she laid her head down beside him and cried.
Charlotte…it’s okay to cry…Just because you are my daughter, it doesn’t mean that you should never cry. I, even though I’m the commander of Magic Council and is someone that everyone looks up to, cries once or twice too…because Charlotte, I and you are as human as everyone else. It’s a part of becoming stronger too…
Oh jeez Charlotte! How long are you gonna cry for? You can’t have me protecting you from everything you know? Hahaha
She would cry the whole night if it meant she would get relief from the pain that was eating her away. She would cry for her father who lost his way, she would cry for her mother who couldn’t be here to lead her and her father and she would cry for her brother he needed all the help he could get…she would cry for the people and she would cry for the council. That night, she would cry for everything she has lost and gained so that the next day…the next day….like a butterfly taking its first flight, she would become someone new….someone who no longer has her wings tied down….someone who would fly towards the future to change it for the better.
“So Father........stay…by…my…side…always”
-End of thread and new beginnings for Charlotte-
