To Era..no Clover?
Charlotte sighed for what seemed to be the nth time that day as she stared at the path ahead of her. This was seriously starting to get to her and she felt like yelling at her father for the first time. Sure he had a reason for his madness but this whole thing about forcing other people to join a guild, she knew, would not give anyone any good result. This reason he had for this serious madness is going to turn many people against the council and she wondered if her father had finally lost it. He cannot hope to run a country with force.
Jude watched his owner sighing and he knew that it would be better for him if he kept quiet. It wasn’t everyday that he saw his owner this annoyed and he knew better than to annoy her any further. Instead he just looked into the backpack he was carrying and wondered if he had packed everything needed for their long journey. Due to the whole mess that one attack on the council has created, Jude and Charlotte was asked to travel towards Era and this one part, Charlotte actually liked. But the whole rule of guildless people having to join a guild didn’t settle all too well with his friend and he could see it on her face. He happened to have stumbled upon a long conversation between her and Kai at night who shared the same opinion as her but refused to change their father’s mind because of various reasons. He remembered Charlotte yelling at her brother which almost never happened unless she was really frustrated with something.
“Jude, are you ready?” he heard Charlotte ask and he simply nodded as his reply. Along the way, he kept stealing glances at her to notice that she was somewhere deep in her thoughts. He could only imagine the seriousness of the issue they were currently in. The magic council got attacked! It got attacked despite the best security it had and he saw Argon really mad for the first time in his life. He knew Charlotte must have felt taken back by all of it too.
The raven haired girl had many different thoughts and feelings running through her mind. The peaceful days are starting to disappear once again and as much as she loved to be on this journey to visit her used to be home town, the events that took place a few days ago didn’t settle well with her at all. More than ten people working for the council died in the attack by the terrorists. The whole thing about ‘we shall rise’ didn’t reassure her much either. They had an enemy they were not yet aware of. The new order that her father passed out in haste got Charlotte more frustrated. She recalled her talk with Kai and sighed knowing that he was right about not being able to change their father’s mind.
Running a hand through her hair, she sighed again, noticing that they have walked a long way from Oak. She noticed that it was starting to get a bit late as well. Have she been walking for that long? She wondered as she looked up at the color changing sky. She really must have been lost in her thoughts for far too long.
Soon she noticed Jude giving her another glance and this time, she turned her face towards him to give him a small smile. She rubbed the back of Jude’s ears to let him know she is okay for the time being. More than the whole rule, what she had to worry about the most were those terrorists. She does not know what is going on or what is happening but she will get to the bottom of it soon and when she would, those people are going to go down.
She felt a yawn break out from her and came to the conclusion that she has to rest somewhere. Noticing that she was entering Clover and since the town was famous for its hospitality, Charlotte decided that she would stop there for then and continue straight to Era to deal with the issue. She remembered her father’s face when he gave her the instructions and it kept her still and speechless for a while. She saw the knowing smile from her brother though and concluded that it was best to just go with her father’s wishes. Maybe he was hoping to turn her careless daughter into someone responsible. She didn’t know nor did she care.
She remembered how hopeful her father looked handing this mission over to her . He was also hoping for her to not mess this up. She saw Kai trying to hold back his laughter when she stared like a retard at Argon as well. She even saw Jude chuckling from the corner of her eyes.
“We are here, Charlotte!” her thoughts broke away when she heard Jude yell pointing at the town ahead. It was already dusk and they were closer to their destination now.
