Fight FIght Fight! Empty Fight FIght Fight!

Charlotte was at Magnolia that day having told Kai that she needed a break from the whole guild rule fight between her and her father. Surprisingly, Kai had obliged to her request and told her she could go travel around for a while if she wants to. So there she was at Magnolia, pushing out every other thought out her mind and trying to relax. The past few days have been nothing more than a pain for her especially with her father making the wrong decisions. Sometimes she wondered what about that terrorist attack had got her father to behave like a mad man but no matter how much she thought about it, she couldn’t find an explanation to it.

So she being her and wanting to do something in Magnolia other than sightseeing, she decided to take a look at the Fairy tail request board. It would be easy to let the day pass if she goes on a mission or something, right? She wondered as she stopped in front of the request board, letting her eyes wander all around the board before fixing it up on an interesting request by a couple to bring their son back from a fighting arena. Though the mission said the boy was missing, she could bet on the fact that the boy was falling into the wrong hands. So she decided that it will be her mission for the day and walked off to the place where the so called fighting arena was held.

She knew she was at the right place when she passed the beautiful city to a dirtier and much older one. There were vague sounds of people cheering and screaming. A match must have been going on when she arrived. She quickly pulled up her black hoodie as she stopped at the registration area. There was a strange man with cold eyes sitting there, staring at her, analyzing her, she realized as she filled out an application. Either he figured out who she was or he was wondering what a girl was doing in a place like that. “Only guildless people are allowed,” he muttered softly but audibly as his eyes continued to roam all over her. She pushed her lips into a thin line as she nodded her head. “I know.”

Once the registrations were out of the way, Charlotte was surprised as how people rushed her into the arena. The disgusting smell of smoke and alcohol mixed into the smell of drugs hit her pretty hard as she tried not to throw up. She noticed people giving her odd looks but ignored them all as she went up to the fighting ring. She kept her head down, covering her face with the help of the hoodie. If anyone noticed her or even worse, recognized her, she was going to be done for it.

And as the announcer started going on about her first match against someone called Sue, Charlotte had other thoughts of her own. A fighting arena like this was going on in Magnolia without the knowledge of the council? What were the council men doing? Council guards roam around the city every single day and they never actually caught sight of something like this going on in the city? Or were they in on this too? She stopped herself from groaning out loud at the thought by letting her eyes go up to meet her opponent’s. She zeroed in on him, taking in his appearance, analyzing his physique and forming a small battle plan in her head. But she felt like swinging it without any thought that day. She was angry and frustrated at some people and her opponents had the great misfortune of having to fight her. She could guess how things would turn out.

And as the announcer screamed “Fight!” she saw Sue dashing towards her. With a long sigh, she simple put her hand out, a small golden ball forming in her hand and as Sue reached closer to her, he must have noticed her attack for he tried to stop himself but he stumbled forward towards her and when he was about 2m away from her, Charlotte released the ball, sending it straight to him, exploding and sending high voltage electric currents through him. In a few seconds, he was down on ground, paralyzed and unable to move.

The announcer and the whole arena looked shocked. No sound was heard for a few moments until the announcer announced her victory and Sue’s pathetic defeat at the hands of a girl. Hushed whispers rose out from the crowd as they contemplated among themselves, the extent of this strange girl’s power. The announcer announced her second match after a brief break, this time with an old man who seemed a lot like he knew what he was doing.

Unlike Sue, this man stood on his spot waiting for her to attack him first and she did. She wanted nothing more than ending this stupid mission. The atmosphere was making her sick and she promised herself that the council guards in charge of this area were going to hear it from her. She formed a whip in her hands as she charged at him, wondering why he was not making a move till he smirked. Her eyes widened as she saw him rush towards her with full strength. He was using his own magic, she noticed and as she neared her, Charlotte swung the whip at him, letting the whip wrap around his neck, effectively slowing him down and as she pulled on the whip, he fell on his knees, screaming and holding the whip around his neck. She quickly retreated her whip not wanting to kill the man and swung it at him one more time, hitting him on his back and sending him to the ground.

The second match left everyone speechless and the crowd grew quieter and quieter. The announcer stuttered out her achievement, looking pretty scared of her. But she didn’t give a damn about what he thought for her real match was up next.

Finally the boy Daniel was standing in front of her. So she had to convince him to go back ehh…She wanted to desperately slap some sense into him but decided that she would leave that to his mother. As he moved towards her, sending a series of punches at her, Charlotte somehow avoided most of them, some of them hitting her directly and sending her stumbling back. Nonetheless, she kept up with him as she started talking about him and his decision to be in an underground fighting arena. Apparently, the boy’s parents were forcing him to run the family business that he doesn’t even want to think about and on top of that, some dark mage had taught him magic and installed some twisted thoughts into his head. It took her some time and a dramatic sentence about his parents and how much they were willing to do for him to get him to realize his mistake. She of course had to fight him in the meantime. All it took was her lightning fall spell for him to fall on his knees and as the fight ended, she went up to him, putting a comforting hand to his shoulder, asking him if he was ready to go home.
