Introductions of the odd kind
Atrum wiped the sweat off his forehead, digging his spade into the soft earth to pull up a single flower roots and all. He had been working on the edge of the Forest for several hours now and was getting rather hungry. Working on a small wild garden will do that to you, he had been working on this small get away for several years if his memory was still good. A small section of fertile land at the edge of the forest, a bit of work and he had turned this small part of the forest into his own personal garden. It was mostly pleasant looking flowers, however he also had some vegetables and a few fruit bearing trees scattered about the place. He came here often enough that most wildlife didn't dare to touch his work for fear of being thrown off of cliff while on fire. He got pretty protective of this little patch of eden he had created. He moved the small flower away from it's neighbor relocating it a tab bit further away so they would not have to compete for resources as much. After completing this task he set about moving another flower closer to a tree to help support it, he got pretty far in it when his entire body froze.
Atrum didn't say a word and looked up feeling a presence nearby, someone or something strong enough to set off alarms in his head. He wasn't pleased and a single look in his eye would tell anyone that, still his faint smile rested upon his face. He mentally prepared himself for a fight since some of the monsters that lived in the village had not learned their lesson, he figured it was most likely one of them scavenging for food. He wouldn't allow that in his garden, he did not tend to the plant in this area to have them plucked when they were not ready. He stood up rising to his full height of seven feet and scanned the area glad that his hat and the forest trees gave some shade to block out the glare of the sun. Atrum took off the work gloves he was wearing and tucked them into his back pocket so he would not have to worry about them. He waited a bit standing mostly still for a few minutes before tilting his head to the side.
"I am aware of you presence, If you would please show yourself I am sure it would save up both precious time." He stated simply his eyes still scanning for movement. This should be interesting at the very least, a distraction from the day to day that Atrum was always eager to partake in.

The flutter of movement was an unmistakable plum like crimson color. It was hard to miss in the dense woodland filled with hues of green and brown. However when one saw it one realized immediately what it bore with it. They had an air of dislike from many citizens of Fiore, but the man who wore the Magic Council uniform wouldn’t know that. He had been out of civilized areas for about nine years if his calculations of the moons that have passed were correct.
“I apologize if I startled you sir, I was just coming out of the woods for the first time in a long while.” The man replied. He wore a modified Magic Council uniform, with no over coat and its sleeves rolled above his elbows. A fingerless glove on each hand, the one on his right hand sporting the symbol they all bear to represent the authority they all serve. He stood somewhere like 2 feet shorter than the monster of a man asking him to reveal his presence. His left arm was bent as he held something that was draped across his back as if it was a backpack in one hand. The sack was almost the size of his torso and across the back of his hips was a four foot long blade its sheath well taken care of. His muscular tone showed that as a man of action. Primarily, as the experienced gaze of the beast of the man before him could no doubt tell, in combat.
“My name is Matthew, tell me good sir what year is it? I’m quite curious as to how long I’ve been..” He paused as if contemplating what to say next as he looked around, his eyes scanning the nearby area. “out on a stroll” he finished giving the huge man before him a once over. “Gardening, I should get into that after I get my own place. Calms the nerves quite well doesn’t it? However it’s not the same as how calm you get in combat is it?”

Atrum watched as the man stepped from the plants that had previously blocked his view of the obvious fighter who had appeared before him. The man was much smaller than Atrum himself, but if he was the same size he would most likely have a heavier build than himself. The man's attire was the third thing he noticed after the mans movement and his build and defenses, he was a member of the magic council. He was unfamiliar with them but if he had to guess he was part of their force of seekers. He didn't have an opinion of the magic council and it's forces, he had no right in his eyes. He did not come to live here to get involved in it's politics that is not why he fought along side Fairy Tail in the war. This was their country and he did not know how best to rule it, Atrum instead preferred the individual level. He understood people and their motivations he could freely hate on member of a organization and owe another of the same organization his life or consider them family. Individuals were easy.
"No need to apologize, your presences was similar to an animals, and I was worried one of those ape had come back to steal from this place again." He responded truthfully. "My name is Atrum Furea it is a pleasure to meet you Matthew" Atrum responded giving a glace to his own clothes in comparison to the man opposite from him. Atrum clothes were simple clothes that looked like that were designed to both be worn in polite company and worn while looking in the mud, while the man who had managed to get this close was wearing something that made him look like a peacock in the setting of this forest. Part of Atrum wanted to spar with the man, but manners dictated that he at least help him out before asking him a favor. "You must forgive me good sir, I do not keep time the same way those born in this country do, all I know is that it has been two years since the war for this land has ended." Atrum couldn't help but get a strange feeling talking this Matthew. It was almost as if instead of Atrum and Matthew standing in this garden, it was a beast and a man. He had never felt a such an alien presence that also gave him the feeling of a kindred spirit. Atrum didn't believe the man understood him though few did, it wasn't anything special or anything most people were not comfortable in combat, comfortable with the idea of being harmed in any way. As soon as the thought crossed his mind Matthew spoke again, this time the words were not a simple pleasantry. There were many ways to figure out that Atrum was a fighter, the scars and his size and build were obvious. The way he stood and held himself were harder to notice. His level of alertness the look in his eye, but none of these spoke of how he felt inside a fight. Atrum stared at the man for a few seconds the faint smile never leaving his face.
"You are correct, the calm of battle is indeed different than the calm of gardening. You are..." He paused for a second the smile growing a bit. "Very perceptive."

“Honestly I consider myself more blind then others.” He replied. “A war for Fiore you say? That’s interesting.” He raised his right hand to his chin and tilted his head slightly to the right. “What country would wage a war with Fiore, we are a peace loving people.” He looked back at his gardener acquaintance. “I’m honestly surprised I missed a war, they are kind of hard to miss” with that Matthew scratched the back of his head and sighed. “As I said more blind than others, I don’t suppose you know where I am do you? Or at least which way to Era, the head of the magic council?”
“Ugh I hate it when I get lost” He muttered quickly then stretched and dropped the sack on the ground gently, making sure it wasn’t near the man’s garden. There were few things you did to start a fight, it just happened ruining a man’s garden was one of them. The drop was a little rough and parts of his armor fell out, and he sighed again. “You also wouldn’t happen to know of a place to stay and find out current events would you? It appears I’ve missed more than I should’ve, and in my absence the world has tried to rightly burn itself down.” Matthew said as he pulled the sword with its sheath off the back of his hips and hung it around his right wrist. “Ironically, I happen to have no jewels”

"It only lasted around five or so years from what I understand The Vallands were not prepared to have this country fight back as hard as it did. As for where you are you are in the eastern forest of Magnolia on the eastern side of the continent The guild I am a part of can help you get reacquainted with your homeland." Atrum said smiling, he was watching Matthews carefully as he relaxed and set down his stuff. "Unfortunately that means you have gone in the complete opposite direction of Era." He said mirth filling his voice as he said this. "It would be only right to help one in need, so if you are ready we can make our way towards my guild. Unless of course you need to eat something first." He offered.
The Fairy Tail guild would certainly have someone who could fill him in on recent events, the guild hall also had facilities he could use. Atrum was sure he hadn't had a proper shower in a while especially if he was only coming back to civilization. If all went well Atrum could probably ask for a sparing match as well. "Either way I shall help you to the best of my abilities, as a person, as a citizen and as a member of Fairy Tail." Atrum said removing his hat and taking a small bow before returning to an up right position and replacing his hat upon his head again. "So Mr. Matthew how may I help you?" He asked before blinking realizing he had left a job unfinished. He retrieved the work gloves and placed them on and knelt down to put the flower he had moved where it belonged. "There much better," He said standing back up and clapping his hands together. "I apologize for getting distracted, I dislike leaving jobs unfinished when it is in my power to finish them."

Re: Introductions of the odd kind
“Food? Nah I’m covered on food for the day. Was hunting a deer a day ago” his mind flashed to the incident that happened not that long ago. The deer grazing on the grass peacefully, he had been waiting in his trap placement for a few hours now. “Then there was that like 8 foot tall gorilla thing that wanted my deer” He remembered it startling his prey, and that’s when he was fed up with nature at the moment.
The next moment the fully armored man dropped from halfway up the tree’s above the deer. Propped up by his upper body holding him up, he landed directly on the gorilla thing armored elbow first. The force of the fall strong enough to drive the monster into the dirt face first.
It reacted with anger, pushing itself up and throwing the armored man into the air. Matthew swung his legs close to his core and kicked outwards using his momentum to turn himself midair. He stuck his hand out and grabbed the hilt of his sword embedded in the tree next to him, and with the momentum of his turn chucked it, nailing the deer right in the chest.
However it was a moment after that he was grabbed by the ankle by the eight foot tall gorllia that then proceeded to drive him into the dirt behind it. He rolled backwards back onto his feet and sprung at the gorilla, the magic from his armor punched into the back of his elbow and he punched forward, the fist amplified as it collided with the beasts face. The cracking noise from its jaw was brutal as the beast was knocked promptly on its ass, and its head hit the dirt a second time resulting in a second snapping noise from its jaw, causing it to attempt to roar in extreme pain. The only noise Matthew heard was gurgles because he started punching the thing until it stopped.
“….Pretty sure I broke its jaw twice, then punched it to death…” Matthew said with a sigh. “But that deer was delicious” he finished. “Feel sorry for the gorilla though, I hit like a truck” He said to Atrum with a smile. “I’ll follow you, I don’t even know where I am”

Re: Introductions of the odd kind
Atrum's smile broadened at the thought of one of the overgrown thieves getting ambushed for a change, he once again took his work gloves off this time he wasn't planning on getting back to work here anymore. He had a guest to escort, and the trip out of the forest while short wasn't exactly safe. Monsters considered the forest their turf and some were perfectly willing to attack you to prove they were the alphas of the area. Atrum normally relished the challenge but now he had a job to do, a fight while entertaining would be a unneeded distraction. He took a last look around and felt satisfied with the state he was leaving the garden, it should be safe for a while after this. He chuckled and turn back to Matthew and motioned for him to follow, ready to lead him back to civilization unfortunately still under reconstruction.
"I shall guide you, it is only a short walk but the local flora and fauna will do much to lead you astray." He stated as he began to walk towards the city he had made his home in. "Or it will simply try and take your life, nature is such a fickle mistress." He said chuckling as he looked for the path he frequented. "It sounds to me that you are a force to be reckoned with, those apes are pretty common around here. Large tough and annoying but not invincible and definitely not the toughest thing this place has to offer. Still I must say simply beating one to death is impressive by itself." He stated finding the path and moving in the direction of home, to Atrum the stupid apes or whatever they were called were small time. The creatures in his homeland were much more of a challenge in a straight fight. He wasn't going to deny that most people couldn't take on these creatures normally though. He found himself smirking, he hadn't compared Fiore to the Northern Wastes in years. He felt like today would be fun if this was how he was thinking, job first however. He could have his fun after he got Matthew to his guild hall, still he was excited for the possible challenge this man presented.
"You seem pretty experienced, how long have you been a practitioner of combat?" Atrum asked moving a branch out of his face, sometimes he was a bit too tall.

“Honestly? Sense I could stand. Siblings will do that to you in life. Especially when your father plans to throw you at each other to train you how to combat mages.” Matthew replied following the man. “You seem a combatant as well. Your muscle tone says that much, but your lack of scars says more, you’re an impressive combatant, and pretty much a force of nature.” His sword swung by his side, and his armor was over his shoulder, these were all of his possessions in the world at the moment.
He wondered about his house in Era, what its condition was, if there was even someone capable of caring about it while he was gone. Hell it had probably been sold off after the seven plus years he’d been gone. What would the Council think? Where had he been for so long? Why hadn’t he reported in when they needed him?
He continued step after step of his new companion. Looking around town which was under reconstruction. It looked like it was going rather well. He wasn’t worried about it because the citizens seemed to have it under control.
“So you’re from Fairy Tail huh?” Matthew asked. “They still a rowdy bunch of hooligans?”

Re: Introductions of the odd kind
"My lack of scars..." Atrum mused alound finding the concept of someone else noticing that his face and arms were disturbingly lacking in and permanent marks. "To be honest I have many scars most of them are covered by my clothes, or healed and faded. I guess for the aura I give off the amount of scars I have is severely lacking." Atrum smiled at being called a force of nature, this man was judging his combat ability from his mere presence and doing a pretty good job of stroking his ego. Atrum's homeland was not a easy place to live, everyday was a fight against something. Monsters, animals, cold, each other, nothing really gave them an easy time when he was growing up. If they were hungry they had to go out and hunt their food, most of which fought back. The fact is he should be covered in head to toe with scars, right? Not necessarily, Atrum felt himself feeling really proud of the fact that he had gotten this far as a fist fighter without any distinctive scars. Matthew was an observant person a good trait to have if combat was your thing.
"Fairy Tail is about as rowdy as ever, I joined them during the war several years back." Atrum explained, laughing at the memory. "Even then they were a bunch of over eager, over confident, trouble makers. It was not even a choice whether or not I wanted to join, just a matter of when they would slap a tattoo on me." He waved as several of the residents as they passed by, they reached the guild hall with little to no issue and Atrum kicked the door open and stepped in. "Welcome to Fairy Tail Matthew, make yourself at home." He said laughing seeing that the guild was in it's usual rowdy state. People arguing, laughing, drinking. This was his home and Atrum was proud of that fact. "This place doesn't change much new faces same mischief, Hard to dislike it honestly." Atrum chuckled looking over at Matthew he was a newcomer if only because of his time stuck in the forest nearby. He was curious to see how he was taking the place when the rowdiness level of the guild surged with the sound of someone smashing their plate against someone elses' head.

“By the love of my sister, I missed this pla-“there was the smashing of a plate on someone’s head, then a chair was smashed on the offending party. Moments after that a chair was flung in the direction of the entering party of two. There wasn’t even a reaction. Matthew caught the chair by the leg after dodging the most of its physical mass, and chucked it back at the thrower with a fluid motion. “-ce” Matthew finished. The chair collided with the target to the back of their head. The victim was obviously unprepared for a retaliation strike that fast as he found himself facedown into a table rapidly and then off that onto the floor. “Oh shit” Matt said as he stopped.
He worried if he killed someone on pure instinct. He didn’t even register the chair in the air at the time. In fact the fact he chucked it back at the man surprised matt probably as much as it surprised the poor bastard on the floor. The man seemed fine however as he pushed himself off the floor grabbed the leg of the nearest table at chucked it at Matt.
Matt ducked forwards and grabbed the legs approaching him rapidly and swung the table around to throw it back at his attacker, however he forgot Atrum was next to him. Broken table splintered off the friendly mage as Matt hesitated after hitting his new friend with a table.
He paused knowing Atrum would be fine, except for maybe a few splinters.
“Shit happens?” Matt asked.

Re: Introductions of the odd kind
Atrum was just in the middle of complimenting Matthew on his reaction time when a table was suddenly redirected in his general direction, Unlike Matthew however Atrum had neither the time nor the agility to dodge his wooden attacked. Instead he simply took the table to his everything, refusing to move from his spot as the normally sturdy table smashed and crumpled against his form throwing his hat from his head. Atrum Didn't move for a full second as Matthew simply uttered the words 'shit happens' in his direction. Atrum smiled pleasantly and knelt down to retrieve his hat, brushing it off carefully before placing it on his head slowly and deliberately. Resting upon Atrum's face was a faint smile, a pleasant expression that almost made one feel at peace. Atrum however was not happy, and his reaction was neither subtle nor proportionate.
"Rejoice, for terrible things are about to happen." Atrum stated in a pleasant tone as his left hand grabbed onto the heavy wooden door on his side and simply ripped it off the hinges the pleasant expression on his face now shadowed by the aura of an enraged monster making his normally soft smile more akin to the smirk of a hunter about to catch it's prey. Atrum swung the door and scooped up Matt tossing him a few feet from the exit and sending the door into the guildie who had thrown the table in the first place. "Come now my friends, is it not enjoyable to spar every once in a while? Geh heh heh." He asked catching a table that was thrown at him and wedging it into the doorway. "I thought so." he finished, literally picking someone up to use them as a blunt instrument. "In that case we should of course go all out then!" He shouted wading into the bar fight a soft smile on his face and an insane glint in his eye. It would seem that the rowdy guild had erupted into an all out bar fight. Well home sweet home right?
Didn't matter to Atrum he was too busy hitting anyone who entered his threat range; person, object, or animal. It didn't matter to him, the cocky little punks touched his blazing hat!

Re: Introductions of the odd kind
Watching a man with a smile as pleasant as Matthew’s recently departed father was unpleasant. What was even more unpleasant was the glint of resemblance Atrum’s murder face resembled his brother’s normal face. Matthew flashed back for a moment between the twins fight.
“MAAAAAAAATTHEWWWWWWW~” The manic call came from the woods, Matthew was hidden amongst the branches, and even from his heightend vantage point he couldn’t see the man he was hunting. There was a manic cackle and the sound of metal on metal, then suddenly the tree’s core was split in half horizontally causing it to fall towards the ground. The ground was rushing to meet him, the branches would splinter off, he was happy he was wearing his armor.
However even with the added protection he needed to react, the crushing force of the tree would pin him, and he wouldn’t recover from that fast enough to stop his brother from killing him. Matt bent his legs against the tree and kicked off, rolling when he hit the ground, kicking off when he landed on his feet, then using his momentum to sprint up the tree infront of him.
Matt reached up and grabbed the sword wedged in its trunk earlier in the fight, and he brought it down on his enemy.
Only when he blinked he realized he had executed this maneuver by jumping off the balcony from the entrance to the scuffle below, rolled between three fighting combatants, ran up a load bearing pole, and caught a flying chair and broke it from an extended height on someone’s back.
Now wasn’t the time for flashbacks Matthew, now was the time to break this man charging him with a keg probably full of booze. Matthew reacted in a curt manner, he chucked the sack of armor at the man. It hit the man right in the face, all of it with the momentum which Matt threw it, knocking the man out cold.
Two down, only Atrum knew how many left. They were his guild members after all.

Re: Introductions of the odd kind
Atrum dropped his unfortunate weapon when someone wielding what looked like a wooden short staff tried to attack his hands, Atrum smiled at the man and took off his hat and bowed as someone was thrown over him towards the weapon wielder. He smirked and reacted faster than what one with his frame was expected to react. He moved forwards placing his hat back on his head as his current opponent dodged the flying combatant and tried to strike at Atrum's torso. Unfortunately for his opponent Atrum had already brought his elbow down upon the staff knocking it to the ground, catching the guy holding the weapon by surprise. Atrum went low and grabbed him by the ankle lifting him up into the air right before someone took a mug and smashed it against his face. He reeled back dropping the guildie he was about to use as a weapon, Atrum was a terror in combat. Against a single target he could defeat just about anyone without taking much damage, that he was sure of. Brawls, street fights and bar fights were a whole other animal, they were chaotic, ever changing, fluid, and most of all; So. Much. Fun.
Atrum let his body fall backwards instead of standing firm something his guild mates expected of him and watched amused as objects that were thrown at him, flew over his head smashing into other people and objects. Atrum smacked into the floor and reached out grabbing a nearby table yanking it over him covering him for the brief second he needed to compose himself. He lifted the table up and sent it flying again catching someone unaware and knocking them out. Everyone had become too riled to stop now, the giant could feel it the flow of battle would continue until those who had the battle fire in them wore themselves out. Atrum cracked his knuckles and chuckled to himself, the fires of battle burned as brightly as they always did in this guild he would continue to entertain the others until they were done. He chanced a glance at Matthew how had in part helped start this and found the man holding his own quite well even thriving in the violent habitat the Fairy Tail members called home. Atrum picked up a chair and smiled, the pleasant look having an more earnest edge to it.
"This should not take long."
