Charlotte was being her usual self, walking around the town, pulling pranks on people, laughing and being childish with Jude following close behind her with his usual list of things for Charlotte to do. It seems that despite the small tense atmosphere around her and her father, he hasn’t stopped trying to mold her into a responsible adult that would one day possibly take over the Council. So in the end, she decided to cut her father some slack by not opening her mouth against the new guild rule for a couple of days. She hated it. She absolutely hated it but for her father’s sake, she decided to tolerate it.
Pulling herself out of her thoughts, she took some time to look around herself, feeling the summer wind hit her and the smell of fresh air lifting her spirits. It was truly a beautiful day, she noted. Everyone she met was in high spirits that day too. She supposed that the fresh atmosphere was getting to everyone. She tugged at the end of her uniform a she walker or skipped towards her favourite chocolate shop and the home to one of those people she loved to pull pranks on.
It didn’t take her long to get there as all she had to do was turn a corner and when she did, her eyes first took note of someone standing to her right with a folder in his hands. He had a completely worried and serious look on his face. It looked as if he was searching for something and just as his eyes landed on her, they widened with delight. She didn’t need a Sherlock to tell her that the man was in trouble and needed assistance from someone. To her luck, she was even in her uniform that day which meant that he identified her as a council member, which in turn explained his mirthful pupil.
“Are you from the Magic council?” he asked hurriedly, his previous joyful eyes taking a worried tone.
Charlotte simple took some time to take a closer look at him. He wore simple yet expensive clothes which meant the guy was rich. His suit gave her the impression that he was a businessman and the folder he tightly clutched closer to his chest only added a positive tone to her hunch. He was obviously worried and he was panting, almost out of breath. She wondered for how long he was standing there looking for someone’s help.
She nodded slowly with a small smile. Gotta be polite, she told herself. “Yes, I am from the council. How may I assist you?” Her voice took a professional tone as she paid respect to him by bowing her head slightly.
“Oh good. I have been waiting for hours to find a council member.” he released a sigh of relief that she guessed he was holding in for a long time.
‘wait...hours?’ she wondered now slightly burning up in anger towards the council guards that were supposed to be patrolling that area. “How many of those idiots are slacking off dammit?!” She yelled at no-one in particular as she rubbed her temples to calm down. “So what was it that you needed help with, sir?”
“You see, this folder contains very important files that I must take to my home but I heard that there would be thieves waiting for me around that area. I cannot afford to lose this folder since this is what sums up my whole life. You have to help me get to my home safely. I will of course reward you with jewels,” he said pointing to the folder and then by looking up at her with pleading eyes.
“Of course I will help you, sir. That’s what the council is after all for,” she beamed at him, taking his hands and walking towards the direction he earlier pointed out to be where his home was. He lived in Oak town not too far away from the sweets shop they were standing at. Apparently, the mentioned thieves had surrounded his home and were waiting for him to get there. She wondered why the council guards were not doing their job by then. She wanted nothing more but to go back and beat sense into them.
As they neared his house, she noticed three of them standing around his house carrying nothing. They wore black. Everything was black! ‘Emo much?’ she mentally snickered as she took confident steps towards them. “All of you are to come with me to the coun-“ Her speech was cut short as one of them acted quick enough to throw a punch at her direction which hit home, sending her staggering back.
“You Idiots! Never hit a girl!” She screamed as she rushed towards him, punching him on his stomach before head-butting him. Her lightning whip did the next trick as she swung it towards one of the who decided to send some sort of metal wire at her. As the whip came in contact with it, the wire conducted the electricity and the man went down screaming in pain.
The other two came back up but was pushed back down by her whips again. Turning to her left, she noticed some council guards making their way up there from the corner of her eyes and waved towards them, gesturing them to come closer. “I want you guys to take these idiots to the council holding cell and what on earth took you this long to even get here?” She scolded, having them apologize to her and Gregory before sending them away with the thieves.
“It’s alright now, sir. I hope you are alright,” Charlotte turned towards Gregory to see him smiling warmly down at her. She guessed that the folder and information was that much valuable to him. The fact the she could make people smile like that with her strength is what made her happy. Every time she looked at people with gratitude towards her, it only amplified the power of her promise to keep them safe.
