Tesstarosa’s words hardly made poor Kayoko feel any better about her illegal situation. She was told all about how she was breaking the law and how they could get arrested at any time. That wasn’t even mentioning being told she could just be hunted down like a dark mage. Kayo didn’t want to be hunted down… The Magic Council was here to protect people, and she didn’t want to hurt the people who were out to protect people, even if they were probably being unfair. Kayoko was sure they had people’s best interests at heart even if not all of the people doing things were the best kinds of people. She whimpered again as Tessa spoke. “B-but…”

Elrowan quickly told her not to worry, and that since he was with Blue Pegasus nothing would happen. He even went so far as to say perhaps she would like Blue Pegasus. Did he want her to join the guild, too? Kayoko wasn’t even sure she’d be able to get herself to sign up for something like that with so many strange people around. She only knew Elrowan… She said nothing though, partially because Elrowan was already on the subject of Kayo being the one who drew a map, and who could draw a picture of Tatsuma to put on a job board. Kayo brightened up at this, grinning widely as her mind turned to the one thing she knew she could do okay.

“Y-yeah!” she told Tessa excitedly, “If you remember what he looks like… you could describe him… I can draw people pretty well…” she insisted, pulling a pencil out of her bag and a blank sheet of paper before sitting down on her knees on the ground in an out of the way spot.

It was cute that the guy thought he was protecting them because he was in blue pegasus, but she figured she should be honest if he was going to be traveling with them. She listened to what both of them had to say and then resolved to agree to it, but they needed to know what they were getting into first.
"You would think that, but no. If we're caught they'll lump you in with us, and if you defend us... I've heard of the council sending hunters specialized for this kind of problem. It'll be dangerous for you to travel with us, and I have no intention of joining a guild, especially not with some dark power commanding us to." She explained. While it was true that if Kayoko joined Blue Pegasus, or if they all just said they were going to join up with Blue Pegasus, they would most likely get some amount of clemency, it was going to last and it would only bring heat down upon them. It was dangerous.

After her explanation was finished, she looked to Kayo. Now that they knew what could possibly happen she could let them help.
"If you still want to do this, to travel with me knowing that it's going to be dangerous, I'll describe Tatsuma to you so that you can draw him. As long as after that I can repay you two for taking this on." She said honestly. Life was difficult these days, and someone needed to do something... maybe... possibly they would.

Elrowan grew a very serious and thoughtful expression as Tessa described the Magic Council's strategy. Even wizards in guilds were at risk if they traveled with guild-less wizards? He just really didn't understand what the Magic Council was thinking. He probably didn't understand the extremity of which Tessa spoke of, either. "If trouble does find us, we shall deal with it then," he decided. The Magic Council's whim of a rule really didn't affect Elrowan much. If Tessa wanted to remain without a guild, Elrowan felt no need to convince her otherwise. Besides, it was rather hard to picture a witch joining a guild in the first place.

"I never shrink from danger!" Elrowan declared proudly. "Especially when it involves doing good. Try as it might, the law cannot ultimately determine the nature of good and evil." Under an evil king, it was very possible for the laws to benefit evil-doers. Fiore was a peaceful land, one of blessings and a particularly benign ruling family, although regrettably they had fallen out of power since the Magic Council had taken over. Otherwise, as a prince, he would have little need to worry about laws impeding his hero routine to begin with. "Now then, do hurry and tell us more about Tatsuma, and let the search begin!"

Kayoko only listened to the conversation at this point. She didn’t much feel like talking, with the queasy feeling of fear entering her stomach at the thought of the law coming after her and Calico. She was even endangering Elrowan, according to Tessa. She tried to put on a brave face though… it wasn’t their fault she was a coward and a lawbreaker… and they shouldn’t have to comfort her every time she wanted to whimper… although she appreciated that Elrowan had done a decent job so far… overall anyway.

She listened as Tessa described what Tatsuma looked like, drawing as she went. She was faster with a pencil than she’d realized, and kept up rather easily. By the time she was done, she actually had a pretty good rendition of Tatsuma on a sheet of parchment she’d stored in her backpack. She held it up, looking unsure about it. “I-is this what he looks like?” she asked in a combination of hope and worry. They’d just spent quite a while drawing and describing. She really hoped it was right… and good enough. “I tried my best…” she stated hesitantly, as if it had already been decided that she had failed, despite the fact that Tessa had said nothing yet.

At Elrowan's suggestion she started her description.Tessa went through the motions, describing Tatsuma to the best of her abilities. It had been hard to get any real details about him from his fight since he was pretty much a blur during the fight so all she had to go off of was the point when he had stopped to ask if she was okay afterwords. She tried to fill in all the details, but her memory left so many gaps, so when Kayoko held up her finished work she was impressed.
"Wow! That's actually pretty dead on! Now... we just need about a hundred more to hang up everywhere." She said, mostly as a joke. Elrowan had suggested hanging them up everywhere, but that was going to work with only one and she wasn't about to ask Kayo to draw a million more. Then she started thinking, maybe they wouldn't have to draw a million more.
"Actually I have an idea." She said working on exactly how she was going to pull it off. She had the idea to go buy some charcoal or something with carbon they could use to copy it.

She thought about it, but the choices were pretty limited. Graphite wasn't going to work since it wouldn't take without pressure. Charcoal, if she used heat she might be able to flash burn the picture on but it wouldn't allow them to keep doing that for very long before the original got destroyed... Ink.. She was so not an artist.
"So maybe I don't, So are we showing this to people or does anyone have any ideas for copying it?" She asked.

Elrowan waited impatiently for Kayoko to draw. Although she was fairly fast and able to keep up with Tessa's description, Elrowan wanted to know what their missing man looked like too. Kayoko was just as skilled as she thought, able to draw Tatsuma down to the tiny nuance. Her process was fascinating, but Elrowan was looking forward to the finished product. When Kayoko held timidly held it up for them to see, Elrowan broke out into loud applause. "Truly amazing, Lady Kayoko. People would pay a fortune to have your hand-crafted portraits. Thank you for your contribution of art!"

Curiously Elrowan was forced to curb his excitement when Tessa said she had an idea. Except that maybe she didn't have an idea. The let-down was a little sad, but they could still make do. "Either we can ask the people of this town if they know this man, or we could leave it on the job request board," Elrowan explained. "If we left some contact details and you stayed here for a day or two, perhaps someone would come forward with information," he told Tessa. "That is, unless you have another means of being reached. Regrettably, not being in a guild will make you more difficult to contact, even if someone does indeed know your friend."

Kayoko blushed bright red when Elrowan gave her such high praise for her drawing skills. If she were more outgoing she might have said something like ‘I had a lot of spare time avoiding people and all,’ but instead she looked a mix of proud and nervous at his praise. She wasn’t actually sure how to take praise from anyone who wasn’t her younger sister. Her parents never praised her. She never showed the servants at home her stuff because even though she liked them they were always busy.

She wasn’t about to say whether they should go and ask people about the picture or if they should put it on the request board. She knew which one she would rather do – the one with less talking to more people. She was already at her limit. At best, she knew she would be in the back of the group doing her best to meld into the ground or nearby wall and not get any new attention on herself. One person was bad enough. Two was scary. More was… downright terrifying. At least people had stopped staring at her for the time being, and she was getting a little bit more used to Elrowan. Finally, she decided they could compromise. “You- I mean... we could ask s-some people…” she said, sounding terrified at the thought. “…And then put it on the job board…”

Tessa agreed with both of them. It would certainly be more beneficial to put their suggestions together. They should show some other people but they could ultimately leave it on the job board. Elrowan was also correct though, she was a hard woman to get ahold of. She could put her address on the flyer... if she had an address, but more to her dismay she would most likely have to sit around waiting.
"He's... not the only one I'm looking for. I need information about someone else too... but it can't go on the job board. There's a lot going on and I can't afford to stay in one place for very long. That and sticking to towns when you don't have a guild will get you caught, that's how it happened last time at least." She said, her mind reverting back to the time she got surrounded. It was way too dangerous these days to just be gallivanting around.

She opened her mouth to say something else but stopped when she realized there was nothing more she could tell them, not without revealing far too much of her past and running the risk of alerting her brother. She only intended to bring one person in on it and that person was the one she had told them she was looking for. Once that was over with, she would be able to move on, maybe join a guild, and possibly try to carry on her family line.
"Maybe I can hold onto that until I'm at a point I can hold out for a while... We can go wherever you guys want." She suggested, thinking of a way out now that she had jumped in thoroughly without any plan of retreat.

Elrowan failed to notice that Kayoko's face grew redder with each passing second. Tessa was creating quite the dilemma. As Elrowan expected, she would be hard to pin down a specific location. It made her harder to track, which meant the Magic Council wouldn't catch up. But conversely, it would make information gathering harder. People wouldn't know where to find Tessa, even if they had information on Tatsuma. "You mean you are looking for even more men?" Elrowan said, clearly surprised. He wasn't the best at picking up on subtlety, and had yet to realize Tessa was trying to avoid the topic. Although she had not said the gender of who she was looking for...

"Hmm...." Elrowan was a little suspicious about leaving the fine portrait in Tessa's hands. Since she was a witch, she might do some strange kind of voodoo magic with it. Or if she was feeling short on funds, she could sell it for a fortune. In the end, however, he supposed he should trust before mistrusting her. "We shall leave the matter in your care, then. Please make sure your quest remains one of righteous intentions." He wanted to make it clear that he was trusting she wouldn't come up with some kind of scheme, and hurt poor Tatsuma. Their entire day's plans seemed to need a change in direction, too.

"What now, Lady Kayoko?" Elrowan turned to his companion for assistance. "Originally, I planned to accompany you and avoid confrontation with my foe. But now, you seem to be in a strange situation which might present danger. Would you at least consider joining a guild to avert such a fate? I would be happy to escort you to Blue Pegasus, my own home. Or if you would prefer Lamia Scale or even Fairy Tail, still I would walk the distance with you. Of course, I would naturally prefer for you to join my own fellow guild, but it would be hardly noble to let a fair lady travel in such dangerous conditions alone."

Kayoko listened to Tessa talk, but the longer she went the less Kayoko understood, and the more dangerous everything sounded. For both of them... but especially for Tessa. Kayoko wasn't the one that could help her, and she knew it. She needed this Tatsuma, and maybe a guild. She was quiet as Tessa ranted, and remained so until the ever-excitable Elrowan addressed her again.

What now, he asked her, suggesting that she consider joining a guild to avoid being arrested like some criminal. She looked at the ground, blushing a bit as she realized this odd boy might very well soon be a part of her life more regularly. She wasn't used to people suddenly appearing in her life and staying, except for Calico that is. It was a weird thought. She looked up at him, unsure and nervous.

"I-I don't want to be a criminal," she told him honestly. "M-maybe we could come with you at least..." What would Calico think? Kayoko knew she should discuss it with her sister, but… she didn’t want to be arrested. At the very least the two of them could accompany Elrowan back to the Blue Pegasus guild hall and decide there, right?

Tessa listened to Kayoko who still seemed to be on the kick about not wanting to be a criminal. She was worried about being on the outside of the law so it must not have seemed as big of a deal that she stand up for her right to be free. Still, she hadn't expected anyone to go knocking on the doors of the magic council to tell them what they thought about the rule and where the could shove it, and she seriously doubted these two were going to be willing to be labeled "anarchists" for the sake of doing that either.

Despite all of this, she did like Kayoko's suggestion about heading out. After taking the picture, she played back Elrowan's words. He was seriously starting to grate on her with the way he talked. "Please make sure your quest remains one of righteous intentions." As if he had any idea what was going on... and seemed to be under the impression that she was some sort of witch... which he based on the fact that she had dried out his clothes for him. It was one of the few talents she had with her magic on the effortless end of the spells she could cast, add in to that she was still trying to figure out things here and there and she was annoyed he had taken it the way he did, more so than when he had reacted in the first place.

She allowed her temper to cool for a moment before speaking, still somewhat ready to jump on Elrowan for his blatant disregard, she moved instead for helping them reach their destination, despite not being super combative Tessa wasn't exactly useless when it came to traveling. She kept herself ahead of the council by using her radar, and now that she had the picture she had a new spell to work on, one where she flash burned copied images onto other papers. She would call it "portrait copy" but the mechanics behind it eluded her at this point.
"I'll be happy to help escort, but once we get near the gates I'm gone. Too many guild mages have turned to helping the magic council hunt down guildless mages." She said thoughtlessly, completely missing the fact that her tone might have been misconstrued as accusing guild mages of being magic council dogs... even though a number of them seemed to be.

Elrowan really hoped that Kayoko was considering a guild for more than just her safety. He knew it was a little naive, but he wanted to believe Kayoko would be interested in guilds for other reasons. If she only joined to protect herself, her heart might not be in the right spirit for the guild. That was true not only for Blue Pegasus, but for any guild she joined. "You can always decide at a later time, perhaps after a tour of the Blue Pegasus premise," he tried to encourage Kayoko. Those large, frightened eyes of hers made him feel like he had to do something to help. Whatever path Kayoko took, Elrowan wanted to help her, and hoped that she figured out what it was she wanted.

Elrowan was a little surprised when Tessa even offered to come along. Sure, she had let them pick what to do... but that was only after avoiding the topic of what she was going to do with Tatsuma's picture. Tessa wasn't obligated to help them, especially since she had no intention of joining a guild. "Truly? But this is the first I have heard of such an outlandish law, despite being in Blue Pegasus for nearly a year!" He was not offended, but more so confused at Tessa's worries. The thought that she might be lying never even crossed his mind. Well, no matter. Tessa seemed like the type to come and go, and Elrowan had no plans to force her into a guild, or turn her in to the Magic Council. Already Elrowan's thoughts were back at Blue Pegasus, planning his glorious return with Lady Kayoko.

Dramatically he flipped his cloak, facing the horizon away from the docks. He smirked, his mind still off in some fantasy land of adventure and daring. "Now then..." He raised one hand, as if beckoning to the horizon. "Onward, to Blue Pegasus!" He practically shouted, earning a few more curious stares from the people around him. Failing to notice them at all, Elrowan set off towards the horizon, really having no idea which direction he was going at all. He knew Blue Pegasus was north of Hargeon, but had yet to discern his current direction. No matter, for they would surely find it eventually.

A tour… in a building full of people… Well, Kayoko might decide to join them, so she supposed she would have to meet them sooner or later, right? She sighed quietly, trying to stay calm. At least she wasn’t panicking like she had been when Tessa had appeared. She nodded. “O-okay. A tour would be… okay.” She decided. Apparently Tessa was coming too. At least Kayoko was getting used to her. She was still intimidated, but she was standing in the open now, right?

Kayoko’s eyes went wide suddenly as she remembered she had to go find Calico. It had been a good chunk of the day, and she was probably wondering where Kayoko was. Besides, Kayoko wasn’t going anywhere without her sister, even if they weren’t related by blood. There were very few things Kayoko had the spine to do offhand, and one of them was to never leave Calico behind, no matter how distracted and pushed she felt.

“I um… have to go find my sister first,” Kayoko told Elrowan and Tessa. “B-but she doesn’t like strangers much, so… I thought I should warn you or something…” Kayoko took a tentative step away from the group, making sure they wouldn’t stop her. “I’ll be back soon,” she told them as she hurried away to where she and Calico had been staying.
