There be Monsters here [Mission - C] Empty There be Monsters here [Mission - C]

Nines was frequenting the Oak Town Magic Council base. When a man requested an Escort. Figuring that he could really use the adventure to break up the mundane boredom of doing nothing but reading. Books were fantastic. But not this fantastic. So he accepted the request from the man named Reye. It was on the paper, but no matter how many times Nines read it, he couldn't figure out how to pronounce the name. He figured he’d ask when he met the guy.

The semi round man stood only two inches shorter than Nines did. His hair was brown, and overall reminded Nines of the pictures he’d seen of his father. “I'm pretty sure theres something in those woods” Reye told Nines. “And i'm pretty sure that after working this path for so long, it’s convinced in my old age that i'm weak and it can get me now” Nines chuckled. “Don't worry sir, if theres one thing i'm good at its protection of someone. Surprisingly enough I am not afraid of the dark.” The old man got in his wagon and started down the path. Nines next to him.

The woodsea at night was nearly pitch black. Nines could understand the paranoia that could develop from this trip being taken for years. The mission was a two way trip, one time towards the town, again on the way back when the man was done with restocking his business. Supposedly he’d been doing this trip for a few years, however its started to get more and more ominous each time. Finally to the point of now, where the man needed further support. Nines was happy to help, if there was a monster out here in the woods if it was left alone it would damage other travelers as well. That wouldn't be accepted. The Council Seeker walked beside the wagon, its two lanterns one on either side of it providing a light source around it, so as to one can see logs at this time of day.

The woods seemed relatively peaceful besides the odd movement which startled the driver. He was a jumpy man at best, but good at heart. When a human feared something nine times out of ten it was for a real reason. It wouldn’t surprise Nines if there really was someone or something out there. He continued beside the wagon, before hearing a twig snap. Within an instant he had reached up and unsealed his knife drawing it. It wasn't the most intimidating thing a monster would ever see, being a small guy with a small blade, however it would be the last. He walked towards the place where the noise was to see a broken branch on the ground. “Just a twig too, shame” NInes commented picking it up and walking back to the stopped cart. “Nothing of interest, lets keep moving” He said looking around. He stopped though “Wait”

“I saw them too” The driver responded, watching as Nines prepared himself to protect him. They were a pair of eyes, near ground level, small beady little eyes. If it was a monster, it was the smallest monster Nines had ever laid eyes on. Judging from the distance between the eyes it had a small body, the eyes themselves were no bigger than the width of his thumb. The only way it could be a threat was if it had some sort of magic. Nines figured the best way to find out, was to see it.

He cast his shield spell around the twig, causing the air around it to glow radiantly. He then chucked it where he saw them, the twig hit the ground, prompting the shield and causing it to bounce right over the pair of eyes he saw. Comically the bunny was terrified of a flying magic stick and it took off running across the path in front of them. “Poor rabbit didn't need that kind of scare” Nines commented with a sigh. The wagon went back to moving. It was an hour long trip towards the town the man was heading to, and it was officially nearby when he started flipping out. “Calm down, stop shaking and point out to me where you saw it. If you startle the horse too much we won't get anywhere.” Nines said with a calming smile at the shaking man. The man took a deep breath and shot his finger at a nearby tree. Nines grabbed a lantern, and headed towards the tree.

When he stared at the raven it cawwed at him. Prolly pissed he brought a lantern this close to its face, then flew off. Only a raven unfortunate. Nines returned with the lantern and replaced it on the wagon, it took them a few more minutes to reach the well lighted town. The calmed almost instantly while they were there.

“I'm sorry about that mate.” He apologized to Nines, “I prolly seem crazy or something dont I?”
“No i’ve seen a crazy person sir, he was a deranged lunatic, and you are nothing like that at all, your fears are perfectly logical” Nines replied. “Now hurry up so we can get you back safe and sound, that way you don't need to be panicking all night.”

“Hah you're absolutely correct” the old man started grabbing a chest off the wagon, and waddling over towards a woman. The chest opened, and even from here Nines could see why this man made the trip. Food was the primary goods that was unloaded from the chest, quite a lot of it. He made a nice profit giving these people additional supplies. It wasn't until the old man put the chest away that Nines saw something that was really valuable. The woman didn't give him money, instead she gave him a key. Just a silver key, with engravings that ran through the metal to the core. Nines had heard of Celestial Wizards before, but the only one he could think of was the one that Atrum constantly messed with, he’d never seen her personally but apparently the two were good friends.
